J. Del Pozo’s Escencia de Duende
Top notes: bergamot, citrus and peach
Middle notes: jasmine, orange blossom, and oakmoss
Base notes: tuberose, musk, and sandalwood
Truth be told I only bought this perfume because of the gnarly top. It’s translucent, it’s twisty flame-like, and it’s pretty nifty. The nice girl at Perfumania, who put up with my nonsense for over an hour, informed me that the cool ass top is only available on the tester bottles. Seeing that this upset me a tad she told me she would sell me the huge tester bottle only if I didn’t care that it came in a plain box. Like I cared. I did smell this in the store but was more intrigued by the aesthetic purposes. After purchasing this, and many other fragrances that fine October day, I peeled myself away from the outlet mall and made my pilgrimage home. I sprayed this on my arm while I was driving on the parkway and just repeatedly sniffed myself. I’m sure this troubled or scared a few passing drivers but whatever. Let me tell you that this is a STRONG edt so please spray lightly! Overdosing in EdD can cause nausea and/or strange looks headed your way. I’m not saying that this is a bad smelling edt but it is strong. I do enjoy the bergamot, sandalwood, musk, and orange blossom seeing that is the only thing I can really smell. I did detect some gardenia but seeing that is not one of the notes I guess I’m just hallucinating.
What does this scent remind me of: this particular combination of smells reminds me of a one night stand of unbridled passion. Am I lying? No. The musk adds that “manly” body odor smell while the fruity/floral helps balance it out a bit. It reminds me of an Indian summer night, neither hot nor cold. The perfect balance of the two.
Would I repurchase: Yes I would but not anytime soon. The bottle lasts me a long time because I need to spray LIGHTLY.
Target audience: definitely a more mature scent but not “old-lady like” in any means.
That woman lied to you. Been buying this perfume for six years and they all come with the top you like.
